The Scrolling Enigma is a short and fun puzzle game in the intimacy of a video game developer where the player uses different capabilities of the Playdate handheld console to solve puzzles.
Solve riddles, decipher cryptic messages, and piece together the fragments of an elusive truth about a gamedev journey.
Unroll the newspaper and reveal the 7 gamedev enigmas through allegorical figures.
A one-hour unique escape game with 1-bit retro graphics for the playdate only!
Ludovic Bas, the indie dev behind Lugludum, created The Scrolling Enigma to share, through puzzles and storytelling, his own experience and that of other game developers struggling with doubt, bugs and burnout to finish their games.
The Scrolling Enigma is far from a perfect game, but it's too interesting to let it pass by. Some of the puzzles are really clever, the scrolling mechanic can be a perfect structure for future titles, and the experience doesn't drag itself more than it should. My feeling at the end was that I wanted more, so I think we have the start of something special in this experimental success.
I really love this! It's the exact sort of game I want to see more of.
just finished your game and really enjoyed it! I think the vampire puzzle solution is one of my favorite moments with the Playdate so far.
